Excerpts

A Story of My Life, by Merlin

I was a man who loved my food. Unfortunately I never married my Lady Love. She was a woman married to her cause. She did however remain a very good friend to me. She would cook for me whenever I visited. I still remember those fragrant buns with that sweet reddish jam. It was certainly a treat. She would load my knapsack with them when I left for my journey home. While I was there she would make me fruit pies. My favorite meal was breakfast. She would cook me some eggs to go along with those buns. She would have sweetened fruit to go with it, especially in the summer. I was a happy man sitting at the dinner table with my Lady Love. She was an extraordinarily good cook and loved to tell me stories of her adventures at the table. Meals were most enjoyable. At dinner she would cook mostly vegetables, but sometimes a piece of fish. That was a rare occasion though for her. The others ate meat but not my Lady Love. She was what you would call a Vegetarian. I left fulfilled after my visit with her.
